Race Times

The Lloyds Bank Cardiff Half Marathon will start at 9.00am. The wheelchair race will start at 8.50am and both races will start on Castle Street. Late starters will not be permitted to take part.

Runner Number And Timing Chip

Your timing chip will be embedded in your runner number. Please remember to bring your runner number with you on the day as these cannot be re-issued. Please ensure your runner number is safely and clearly pinned to the FRONT of your vest or t-shirt. It is essential that you fill in your emergency details on the back of your number. Please note: failure to wear your runner number or cross the starting mat will mean your time will not be recorded.

Starting Pens

Your race number will be in a colour that corresponds to your estimated time. Please assemble within the clearly signposted colour-coded pens near the start on Castle Street from 8.15am. For safety reasons runners must assemble in the correct colour pen. Any clothes left at the start will be donated to charity. Please allow enough time to walk to the start and assemble. Baggage Area

A baggage store will be open at 7.30am in the Runners’ Village on City Hall lawns. All runners are allowed to deposit one bag, which must display your baggage label which is a tear-off strip on the bottom of your race number. Please attach the label before your arrival. Bags can be collected after the race upon presentation of your runner number. Only runners and staff will have access to this area. Items not collected after baggage closure will be held at the general information point. The following day, they will be taken to the Cardiff Half Marathon office. Please contact the Cardiff Half Marathon team to arrange collection at cardiffhalfmarathon@runwales. or on 029 2166 0790 It is strongly advised to leave valuables at home. Race organisers cannot be held responsible for lost items. We will do our utmost to safeguard your baggage, but the area is not locked.

Prize Presentation

The prize presentation ceremony will take place at 11.30am near the finish line. Medallists and prize winners should make their way to the presentation area to collect their prize. Age category winners’ prizes will be posted. Presentations will be made to race winners and to medallists in the British Championship and Welsh Championships.

Commemorative T-shirts

All runners will receive a commemorative Brooks sports t-shirt and goody bag upon completion of the race. There will be four sizes of t-shirt available: small, medium, large and extra large. Please look for the signs and listen to the instructions of the race supervisors and volunteers to ensure you pick up your correct size. You will not be able to re-enter the run-off area.

Toilet Facilities

There will be several banks of toilets around the Civic Centre in the Runners’ Village, on the way to the start and along the route.

Lost Property

A lost property point is situated at the General Information point in the Runners’ Village.

Road Closures

Road closures will operate on a rolling closure. The majority of roads will reopen three hours after the start at 12 noon. If there are still runners on the course they may be asked to continue on the pavements to allow the roads to be re-opened. For further details see our website.

Your Safety

If at any time during the race you feel unable to continue, please stop, rest and locate the nearest marshal. Medical teams will be on hand around the course as well as at the start and finish areas. The primary and secondary medical tents will be situated near the finish line and run-off area. respectively. IT IS VITAL that you ensure the medical information on the back of your runner number has been completed. It is your responsibility to inform the organisers if you have any special medical conditions. In the event of any major occurrences, the race director and emergency services have the right to:

• Alter or shorten the route, but still provide a race if possible.

• Stop the race at any time if deemed necessary.

This would be in circumstances beyond the control of race organisers and no refunds would be given.

Race Pacers

Race pacers will be on the course. They are a friendly bunch and there to enhance your experience so look out for them and say hello! Meeting Points

Meeting points A-Z will be positioned in front of the museum (between King Edward V11 Avenue and Museum Avenue in the Civic Centre) for repatriation.

British Half Marathon Championships

The top three male and female British runners will be presented with British Championship medals. If you wish to compete in the British Championships, please ensure that you fulfil the following criteria. Athletes competing in the Lloyds Bank Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday 6th October 2013 will be deemed eligible for UK Championships and the Grand Prix, if they fulfil the criteria to be eligible to compete for Great Britain & Northern Ireland in competition.

Welsh Half Marathon Championships

The Lloyds Bank Cardiff Half Marathon is home to the Welsh Half Marathon Championships. The top three male and female Welsh runners will be presented with Welsh Championship medals.
